In the first semester of my second year on campus I stayed at the Staff Quarters. In those days ECU Sunday services starts by 3pm and 'cause where I stayed was quite a distance to where service held, I 'll come to campus with my cousins in the morning and then wait at the top of Oduduwa hall till its close to service time when I will then head out to All Souls Chapel. During the waiting time I read, but because I knew that reading wasn't my primary purpose of staying in that place, there were times when I got tired of reading, got tired of waiting... But I'm stuck in love with ECU, so I waited. And one of those days, I came to this conclusion: Waiting is one of the hardest thing to do.
I don't like waiting and I doubt if you do too but the truth is waiting is a part of life. The nine months or so
waiting at the start of life only heralds a series of other waiting periods which goes on through life. Quite recently I came to the understanding that waiting is not a career for the weak, it takes strength to wait. Paul prayed for the Colossians (Col 1:11) that they be strengthened with all might, according to God's glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness. Note, he didn't pray that they be strengthened with all might unto all exploits, or all miracles or all manifestations of power but unto all patience because it takes strength to patiently wait and I wonder how that child who hasn't learn to wait on God for instructions and directions wants to work in power.
As children of God, everytime is our waiting time. We wait always on Him, like Habakkuk (2:1) stood on his watch, for what He wants to say to us per time. As His bride, we wait on our Husband, as His servants, we wait on our Master and as His children, we wait on our Father, always we wait. However, apart from this waiting which is our life, there are special waiting times for every individual, this are special times set apart for seeking the Face of God for some specific things. Are you in your special waiting time and it seems as if you can't do it anymore? Don't stop dear, there is strength in Zion. And lest I forget, waiting is not synonymous with inactivity, it is simply listening for instructions and not taking a step until ill He says so. Wait, keep waiting and while you wait, keep tapping into God's inexhaustible reservoir of strength.
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength... ICareAboutYou- TiToluwaNiMi.
