I have been meaning to write about Tiger Woods for quite a long time now but I guess I have been too busy to write. ( I know that's unbecoming of a writer and it simply means I still have a long way to go). Do you know Tiger? Simply flow with me.
Tiger Eldrick Woods is a professional golfer whose success (and otherwise) story won't be complete without a mention of his father, Earl Dennison Woods.
Earl started coaching Tiger in golf at quite an early age though he wasn't a professional golfer himself. Tiger was introduced into golf in Orange County, California before age two and became a child prodigy
in golf, he was perhaps the most precocious young golfer in history. His father coached him till age five before seeking professional assistance. He shared the techniques he used in coaching his son in two books: Training a Tiger: A Father's Guide to Raising a Winner in Both Golf and Life, and Playing Through: Straight Talk on Hard Work, Big Dreams and Adventures with Tiger (none of these two I have read). Some believe Earl pushed Tiger too hard but whether he did or not, Tiger flourished in Golf. Earl was a backbone for his son whom he named after an old friend who was nicked Tiger. Though Earl was a special Operations guy, he could be described as Tiger's biggest fan, he travels down to where Tiger's having a game, discusses with him and takes him places, the world knew he was proud of him. Even when Earl did things Tiger wasn't happy with, they eventually still find a way to bond again. When marriage wasn't working for Earl and His wife, the both of them still made it a point of duty that their son stayed on top of his game.
Earl was a Buddhist and I heard (though I have got no concrete proof to that effect) that Earl's support of Tiger was beyond physical stuffs but I have proof of the fact that Tiger's career never remained the same after his father's death, the true reason for that, God knows.
Now, if an earthly father can go to such lengths to ensure his child's success, how much more our heavenly father. No one truly succeeds without a supernatural backing, Jesus is willing to back you up, why not turn to him instead of seeking help where there is none. God is immortal, he never dies, He is an ever present help in time of need, Psalms 46:1. Tiger is not an old man yet but Micheal Jordan thinks he can't be great again. But he can be great again, anybody can be great again because greatness lies in Christ. TiToluwaNiMi.
