LOVE IN A SUNBEAM (2)

That was it; her father was not as true in his words as she had believed him to be. Her droipad was on now, but it was still on its first display. ZOZO was all that was on its face, with some flashing shining stars moving all around the word. Alice wondered why her phone should take so
long a time to start whenever she switched it on. Maybe it was just her brand, or a technical problem that she could resolve. While she was still cogitating on what to do with her phone’s low starting system, the thing was on fully.
Alice gave up her thoughts and focused on the phone. On the first page was a pile of notifications from a number of social Medias. Facebook was the first she saw. It was a message from her sister; have you sent the mail? The director is now around. The message was short, but Alice needed no interpretation from any prophet, it was as clear as a black stone in a bucket of clean water. Alice had left Abeokuta for Lagos some days before. She had done this for no other reason than to stay close to her fiancé, their former distance was unbearable. Her fiancé was staying in Lagos, so she moved to Lagos too. They had to stay close to each other; at least, they would be living together soon.
So Alice had sacrificed the home and the distance, for the love she bore for him. But her home wasn’t the only thing she had sacrificed; her job, her friends, her lifestyle and many others. She used to be an accountant in a company in Abeokuta, but now she had no job. Her friends at Abeokuta had told her to reconsider, but her relationship with her fiancé was worth the break in life direction, or so she thought. She had left her former place of abode for a rented apartment in Lagos. It wasn’t easy, but she convinced herself that it was worth it. And now, her sister who was living somewhere in Ibadan had tried her best to find her another employment in Lagos and she was to send a mail containing her personal information and qualifications.
Next on the line of her notifications was some tweets from one of her friends in Abeokuta. Alice clicked to check it out. Her friend was asking about how she was doing, where she was living, about her fiancé and a whole lot of other issues. Alice smiled, squeezed her finger and straighten them again as she typed answers to the question in tweets; I am doing just fine, I love my new house. Charles is fine; you should come and visit soon. I’m getting married in a couple of months, watch out friend. Alice smiled once more, and then her smile turned to a grin and then to a hysterical laughter, I AM GETTING MARRIED, she thought, clicking the back button to continue with her scroll of notifications.
