HOLOKLERIA

When Gideon saw the Lion yawn he knew he was in big trouble. He'd been roaming the forest aimlessly for some minutes (not knowing how he got there) before suddenly sighting the jungle king gently seated on a tree stump. The good thing, for now, is that the Lion has not noticed his presence. Deon lied low quietly on some shrubs, his pulse racing as if his blood vessels were actually transmitting a SOS message to the heavens. Suddenly, Deon gave a loud shrill when he sighted a reptile coiled beside him on the grass. The reptile startled, started to move away. But the Lion... The lion was zooming in on Deon, he stiffened, unable to shout, cry or even weep- just sweats as the lion got even closer, Deon shut his eyes tight (he couldn't bear to witness his own death), he could feel the Lion's breath on his face, he was rolling to the right when he heard a loud roar and...

THUD!
Gideon hit his head against the hard concrete floor. He woke up instantly, panting heavily with numerous beads of sweat creasing down his face. Gideon had just fallen from the upper bunk, his bed space. He picked himself up and started to mount the bunk again, his heart filled with fearful thoughts. Nightmares like this one have been Deon's constant night companion for about two months now, though this is the first time he would be falling from the upper bunk. He'd dreamt of strangulation, masquerades, animals, ghosts, wars etc.
His bad nights are just an extension of his bad days. If there were anything like "daymares", Gideon had them. He need not close his eyes, fearful thoughts, unwholesome ideas, immoral cravings and sometimes evil imaginations dominate his thought system- like the day he wished for some seconds that the man climbing down a ladder near their house will miss a step and crash down like Humpty. Gideon knows all these are bad, he want's to be free but he just does not know if there's a scriptural provision for the wellness of the mind.
We all struggle mind-wise at different times. Times when we struggle with the fear of failure, the fear of not meeting up to expectation. Times when we can't seem to be able to stop ourselves from the silly thoughts that resulted from an obscene picture we stumbled on and times when we wish bad things for others as if we are not christians. Sometimes, those things that disturb our minds are stuff we can't explain to others, things we can't even comprehend ourselves. At a time, I felt I was just going to get to an exam hall and blank-out, days when I struggled with despicable thoughts and unwholesome ideas... Maybe you wanna ask, "How do I shake this dirty thing of my mind, or do I just roll with it?"
First, know that a sound mind is God's will for you 2Tim 1:7 and that He wants your soul to prosper 3John 1:2. He wants you to experience "holokleria" (perfect soundness) in your body, in your mind, when you are asleep and when your eyes are wide open. What you need to do is to focus on God, get His word, believe it and keep confessing it- You have a sound mind.
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
