UNDERSTANDING SALVATION

TEXTS: Eph 2: 1-22, Heb 6:9 (MSG)
OBJECTIVES: To fully understand the need for salvation
and the things (blessings) that accompanies salvation .
THE CREATION OF MAN
Taking this lesson from the beginning of creation, in Gen 1
& 2. God created man in His own image. His purpose of
creating man is to fellowship with man and for man to care
for the garden. Man was a product of divine counsel by

God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
Gen 1:26 & GEN2:7de scribes the actual process of creation.
To be created in the image and likeness of GOD means to
be related to the eternal being himself as no other creation
on earth is. GOD’S likeness refers to His attributes made
manifest in man - a bility to think, speak, act & exercise
willpower. Dominion over other creatures was bestowed
upon him (man).
THE FALL OF MAN
The fall of man, an event that birthed series of events is
fully narrated in Gen3. Two important factors led to the fall
of man· Satan [his deceit and lies] Gen3:1-5; Satan in his bid
to usurp the authority and dominion given to man
by God deceived Eve through the serpent to disobey
God express command not to eat the fruit. He also
denied the fact that man would not die but claim
that man would be like G od.
· Flesh [lustful desires] Gen3 :6: This offer attracted Eve
and she fell for Satan ‘s dece it. Eve also lured her
husband into it. At their disobedien ce,man died not
physically but spiritually , man lost the fellowship
with God Rom5: 13-1 9. This lustful desire of Eve
translated to what we know as flesh. This nature
resided in Adam and Eve and it passed on from
generation to generati on.
This emphasizes the fact that we were once sinners not
because we sinned but primarily because of our
inherited nature. The devil therefor e seek the
opportunity as man grows up to use the flesh as a major
tool to further plague our lives with sin producing
deliver works of the flesh. Gal5;19 -21
