HIS HAND OR HIS FACE?

"Spirit Of the Sovereign Lord" by Paul Wilbur is a song of desire. A song that expresses the longing of the spiritual man for the glory and presence of God. I love this song so much and I am sure if you 've ever heard it, you do too.
Spirit of the Sovereign Lord
Come and make Your presence known
Reveal the glory of the Living God
However, there is a part of this song that usually "did me somehow" (until recently) when I sing it in my prayer time. It's the part that says "We do not seek your hand, we only seek your face...", it used to sound untrue somehow, like I am not really being honest with God. You can't blame my mind for
reminding me at such times a host of things I am trusting God for. I need this, this and that and I am there telling God I do not seek his hand, Who am I deceiving?
But there was this particular day I got light about it. Yes, I need a lot of things from God but still I only seek His Face. I am not like that child who is only interested in what he can get from his father's hands. Seeking His face means fellowship, communion, connection and relationship. And the truth is that, we can't really go far with God until we develop to that stage where we no more stare at His hands (accosting Him for the things we think He hasn't done and feeling good about the ones He has done), a stage where we long for His face, desiring His presence more than life itself. There is always a difference between the two, the Children of Israel sought His hands and He showed them His acts, Moses desired His Face and God made His ways known unto Him. Change your approach today, shift your focus from your list of needs, create a desire for fellowship. The interesting part of it is that when you get His presence, you get the fullness of His Joy. You then don't need to struggle for your needs to be met, things just automatically fall into place for you.
Matthew 6
[33]Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. TiToluwaNiMi.
Let the weight of Your glory cover us
Let the life of Your river flow
Let the truth of Your kingdom reign in us
Let the weight of Your glory
Let the weight of Your glory fall
We do not seek Your hand
We only seek Your face
We want to know You
We want to see You
Reveal Your glory in this place
Let the weight of Your glory
Let the weight of Your glory fall.
