THEIR NAKEDNESS; YOUR NAKEDNESS

After God had successfully brought out the Israelites from Egypt, He did have a hard time dealing with them. The Bible refers to the people of Israel as stiff-necked people. All that mattered to them was food, water and their pleasure. They took every possible opportunity they had to murmur against Moses and sin against God. They always did find pleasure in breaking God's laws over and over again. It wasn't their fault anyway; they just couldn't keep them (the laws). But out of these laws, there is a particular one that did touch my heart.

In Leviticus chapter 18: 7-10, God commanded the Israelites not to uncover the nakedness of their, father, mother, father's wife, sister son's daughter and daughter's daughter. The reason God gave for this, among others was_ 'For theirs is thine own nakedness.' KJV. Now, I know this law is about Fornication and Adultery, however, the Holy Spirit explained it to me in a more elaborate way.

Many believers today take off to Rome and forget their home. We neglect our families in the name of the gospel. To worsen matters, we manipulate Jesus' words to support our selfish interest. 'A prophet has no honour in his home' does not mean a prophet neglects it. There is no Biblical reference that Jesus neglected his family members while preaching the gospel, they only found it hard to believe him.

Instead, it is clearly written in the Bible that Jesus committed his mother to the hands of one of his disciples when he was about to die, John 19: 26 -27. Moreover, James, one of the brothers of Jesus, later became a strong upholder of the gospel. These all shows Jesus never neglected his family.

We must all come to the realization that the nakedness of the people that the Lord has surrounded us with is our nakedness. Your family is an integral part of your ministry, try to carry them along. No one is saying you can't do it alone, no one is saying you can't go for a retreat, but do not neglect your family. When Moses got his call, of course he left the land of Median alone, but do not forget that Jethro brought them (his wife and children) all back to him. I do love Abraham; he sure did the right thing by getting his wife to follow him in his call. This does not in any way stop God from achieving His purpose.

What profit has a man/woman, pastoring a successful church, and having a drunk for a son, or a prostitute for a daughter? Isn't that a big slap on the face of Christ?

It all starts from the root. Always find a way to help your family, spiritually and physically. When you pray, pray for them. Those that require special attention, mention their name. Do not run away when they need something from you. Do not take your mother for a witch, or your father for a wizard.

Your family is your duty; if they fail, you fail.  If they are poor, you are poor. God won't take his work as an excuse from you. Even if they are all darkness, then you be a light that shines in darkness. They can't kill you, millions of witches can't. Stop being scared and stand up to your responsibility. Arise and save your family, arise and help your destiny.
